TITLE: Payroll Specialist  REPORTS TO: Finance Transaction Services Manager   JOB DUTIES / GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:    Job Summary: Administers the organization's payroll function.   Job Duties:   Collects, verifies, and stores organizational payroll data.   Inputs changes, which may include changes to employees or employee statuses, exemptions or withholdings, or bank information.   Reconciles payroll-related general ledger and prepares reports or statements summarizing payroll-related accounts.   Ensures that mandatory and voluntary withholdings and deductions are accurately calculated and reported.   Transmits payroll files for processing.   Assists employees or managers with questions about payroll policies and pay discrepancies.   Maintains payroll related files and records.   Completes new hire setup in payroll systems.   Assists in the preparation of year end W-2s or other related tax filings or reports.   May interface with third-party payroll vendors.     Experience and Education:   Performs work under general supervision.   Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.   Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.   May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to subordinate group.   Typically requires an Associate's degree, and 4 to 6 years of experience.     Reports to: Typically reports to a manager.     Competencies:   Customer service skills.   Detail oriented.   Ability to meet deadlines.   Mathematical skills.   Clerical skills.   Accounting skills.   Ability to follow directions.
