Are you a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist with the ability to provide superb customer service? Monroe County’s Finance Department is looking for a full-time Payroll Specialist to join their team! Successful candidates will have an associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business management, or related field. Four years of experience working in payroll processing is desired. Previous experience in a municipal setting is helpful. Candidates with an equivalent combination of training and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may also be considered.
Our Payroll Specialist performs timely and accurate payroll and benefit processing in accordance with mandated legal requirements, County policies, collective bargaining agreements, and standard professional practices while providing exemplary internal customer service. This position works with HR and verifies system updates to employee information including pay rate changes, benefit elections, tax withholding, and personal information. Our Payroll Specialist reconciles, reports, and remits weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual Federal and State withholdings and unemployment reporting as mandated by law. This position also performs general accounting procedures; reconciles various benefit deduction invoices; processes and submits bank ACH files; and completes journal entries in the County accounting software.
