Role Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Specialist to provide essential support to our payroll department. This role reports directly to the Payroll Administrator and focuses on the day-to-day administrative execution of our semi-monthly payroll cycles. The ideal candidate will be a disciplined professional capable of handling sensitive data with discretion while ensuring our growing, multi-state workforce is paid accurately and on time. Essential Duties In addition to related job duties as assigned, this position will: · Assist the Payroll Administrator in processing semi-monthly payroll for multiple entities and states. · Data entry for new hires, terminations, rate changes, and employee tax updates. · Review and verify timecard submissions, following up with managers to resolve discrepancies or missing approvals. · Process and track payroll deductions, including benefits, 401(k) contributions, and garnishments. · Respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks, tax forms, and payroll procedures with high-level internal service. · Maintain organized and compliant digital and physical payroll records. · Assist with the preparation of payroll reports for management and audit purposes. · Support the Payroll Administrator with year-end tasks, including W-2 verification and reporting. · Execute mortgage-specific payroll functions, including the calculation of commissions and incentives, maintenance of draw balance statements, and administration of compensation addendums. · Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable on-site attendance at the Colorado Springs office to ensure seamless payroll operations and team collaboration. · Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet strict deadlines during semi-monthly payroll cycles and year-end processing periods. · Other duties as assigned. QualificationsQualifications, Experience & Knowledge · 2+ years of experience in payroll processing or general accounting. · Solid understanding of payroll fundamentals (e.g., wage and hour laws, tax withholdings, and deductions). · Experience with payroll software (Paycom preferred) and intermediate proficiency in Excel. · High level of accuracy and a "check-your-work" mindset. · Strong communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information with the utmost integrity. · Proven ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment. · Familiarity with multi-state payroll requirements is a plus. Physical Requirements · Stationary position; prolonged periods at a desk and working on the computer. · Occasional movement about inside the office to walk to offices and office machinery. · Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, must be able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the workday.
