Responsibilities

We’re looking for a detail-obsessed Payroll Specialist to own end-to-end payroll for a growing financial services team in Edmonton. You’ll ensure every cycle is timely, compliant, and accurate—supporting salaried and hourly employees across multiple provinces.

What you’ll do

  • Process full-cycle, multi-province payroll (bi-weekly/semimonthly), including new hires, terminations, and changes.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries; resolve variances with Finance/Accounting.
  • Administer statutory remittances (CPP/QPP, EI, income tax) and complete PD7A filings on schedule.
  • Issue and reconcile ROEs, T4/T4A slips, and year-end adjustments.
  • Maintain and audit employee records, timesheets, and accruals (vacation, sick, overtime).
  • Set up and manage garnishments, taxable benefits, WCB (AB) reporting, and pension/RRSP/DPSP contributions.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for payroll inquiries; deliver clear, confidential support.
  • Partner with HR on benefits, leaves, onboarding, and policy updates.
  • Monitor compliance with CRA guidelines, Alberta Employment Standards, and internal controls.
  • Identify process improvements; document SOPs and support system upgrades.

What you bring

  • 2–4+ years of recent Canadian payroll experience, ideally in financial services or a regulated environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of CRA rules, provincial employment standards (with emphasis on Alberta), and year-end reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more payroll/HCM systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Dayforce, UKG, Workday, QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Intermediate Excel skills (lookups, pivots) and high data accuracy.
  • Comfortable with high-volume cycles and strict deadlines.
  • Professional discretion and a customer-service mindset.
  • PCP designation (National Payroll Institute) or progress toward it an asset; CPM is a plus.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.

Why you’ll love working here

  • Impactful role that owns the paycheck experience for the entire organization.
  • Collaborative, values-driven team with strong mentorship and growth opportunities.
  • Benefits package, wellness supports, paid time off, and professional development reimbursement.
  • Hybrid work model (Edmonton-based) with modern tools and automation.

Work arrangement

  • Location: Edmonton, Alberta (hybrid; on-site days for key cycle tasks and team meetings).
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday.
