OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll management and accounting, with proficiency in various payroll software systems. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with tax regulations, and effective benefits administration. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with the HR department and finance team to maintain accurate employee records and support overall organizational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in payroll management or a similar role within corporate accounting or human resources.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Kronos, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or other financial software platforms.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, and account reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with non-profit accounting principles is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining compliance with legal requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time using systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, or UltiPro.
  • Maintain employee records in HRIS systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Perform data entry tasks related to payroll, benefits administration, and employee changes.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions as they relate to payroll expenses.
  • Conduct account reconciliation and general ledger accounting to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions and ensure compliance with financial concepts.
  • Assist in the analysis of payroll data for reporting purposes and identify discrepancies or issues that arise.
  • Collaborate with HR on benefits administration and provide support during audits related to payroll processes.
  • Stay updated on tax regulations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding payroll processing.
