QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–3 years of full-cycle payroll processing experience
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience with salaried, hourly, union, and non-union payrolls
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a high-volume environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
  • Experience using ADP timekeeping and payroll systems
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join a dedicated team supporting a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and supporting internal reporting and auditing needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately process weekly/bi-weekly payroll from start to finish
  • Enter and reconcile payroll data within the enterprise payroll system
  • Process time data entries and verify for accuracy and completeness
  • Handle garnishments, deductions, and manual check distribution
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax reports (as backup to the Lead Payroll Specialist)
  • Distribute pay statements/checks and maintain employee records
  • Support year-end W2 processing and reissuance
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll and W2s
  • Assist in general ledger payroll transaction recording
  • Ensure all time approvals are complete and compliant
  • Participate in system testing and reporting (e.g., timekeeping system, Cognos reports)
  • Collect and organize data for annual workers’ compensation audits
  • Monitor timekeeping systems for FMLA and other leave tracking
  • Maintain employee payroll records (direct deposit, tax info, etc.)
  • Act as super-user for the organization’s timekeeping platform
  • Remain up to date and compliant with all federal/state payroll laws
