PAYROLL SPECIALIST

SAJO, headquartered in Montreal, with offices in London (UK), Milan (IT), and Miami (USA).
SAJO is an integrated project delivery company servicing North America, Europe, and other international markets with operations extending across retail, commercial, residential, public works, and utility sectors. We design and build project environments from conception and project management through to delivery.
WORKING CONDITIONS: A healthy environment, with a 37 ½ hour work week from Monday to Friday.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College diploma in Payroll Administration or equivalent education
  • One to two years of payroll experience, preferably within the construction industry
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll legislation and employment standards across applicable jurisdictions (QC, Canada, U.S.)
  • Experience with Payroll Software; ADP Workforce Now is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
  • Bilingual in French and English is required
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or equivalent is preferred
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities
  1. Payroll Processing:
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for Canadian and U.S. construction employees, including salaried staff, hourly field personnel, and Superintendents
  • Collect and verify timecards from job sites; calculate overtime and pay premiums
  • Ensure compliance with construction-specific payroll regulations, including the Commission de la Construction du Québec (CCQ), as well as federal, provincial, and cross-border requirements
  • Post journal entries and prepare month-end reports
  • Leverage payroll software, particularly ADP Workforce Now and JD Edwards
  • Maintain confidential payroll and employee records, including status changes, deductions, direct deposits, sick leave, vacation, and other accrued leave
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries, including deductions, wage garnishments, union remittances, and employment verifications
