JOB SUMMARY The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for hourly and salaried employees in a manufacturing and plant environment. This role supports complex payroll requirements such as shift differentials, overtime, timekeeping integration, and attendance policies. The Payroll Specialist serves as the ADP subject matter expert and partners closely with HR, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and consistency. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. PAYROLL PROCESSING * Process weekly and/or bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees using ADP (e.g., ADP Workforce Now). * Ensure accurate payroll calculations including regular wages, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, attendance premiums, and deductions. * Review timecards, attendance records, and payroll inputs for accuracy prior to payroll submission. * Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner. 2. MANUFACTURING & TIMEKEEPING SUPPORT * Partner with plant leadership and HR to ensure accurate timekeeping practices and policy compliance. * Support time and attendance systems integrated with ADP. * Ensure compliance with union or non-union payroll requirements where applicable. * Track leave balances, PTO, and unpaid time in accordance with company policies. 3. ADP ADMINISTRATION & REPORTING * Serve as the primary administrator for ADP payroll modules. * Generate and analyze payroll reports for audits, labor cost analysis, and management reporting. * Support ADP system updates, testing, and payroll-related configuration changes. * Maintain payroll documentation, procedures, and internal control records. 4. COMPLIANCE & TAX * Ensure compliance with FLSA, IRS regulations, and federal, state, and local payroll laws, including Texas payroll requirements. * Coordinate payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end processes including W-2 preparation. * Support internal and external payroll audits and respond to payroll data requests. 5. PROCESS IMPROVEMENT * Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy and efficiency in a high-volume manufacturing environment. * Support payroll-related projects, system improvements, and process standardization initiatives. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or equivalent experience. * Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment with hourly employees. * Hands-on experience using ADP payroll systems. * Strong knowledge of hourly payroll processing, overtime rules, shift differentials, and timekeeping systems. * Experience supporting high-volume payroll processing for hourly employee populations. * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong attention to detail. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information with discretion. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with ADP Workforce Now and ADP Time & Attendance modules. * CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification. * Experience supporting multi-shift or 24/7 manufacturing operations. * Familiarity with Texas payroll and labor regulations. KEY COMPETENCIES * ADP payroll system expertise. * Strong payroll accuracy and compliance focus. * Knowledge of manufacturing payroll environments. * Strong communication and problem-solving skills. * Ability to meet strict payroll deadlines. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work is performed primarily in an office environment within a manufacturing facility. The role may require interaction with production and HR teams to support timekeeping and payroll administration.
