Together, we’re on a mission to solve shipping globally.” What you will do in this role 🧐 We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to ensure our employees across the Netherlands, Germany, and Italy are paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with local legislation. You’ll be our in-house expert on payroll and statutory regulations — especially Dutch payroll (tax rules, pension enrolment, social security, 30% ruling). For Germany and Italy, you’ll work closely with local consultants to ensure full compliance. You will also support HR in coordinating payroll for colleagues hired through our Employer of Record (EOR) provider in other European countries. You’ll collaborate closely with Finance, HR, and our payroll partner Remote. You will report directly to the Team Lead Finance, with support from our finance administration team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, international environment and loves solving problems. Your responsibilities include: Manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees in NL, DE & IT Ensure compliance with local legislation, tax requirements & labor regulations Monitor and process tax withholdings, social security & statutory deductions Handle pension enrolment and ensure accurate reporting for payroll processing Maintain and update employee records in our payroll system (Remote.com) Verify changes such as new hires, salary adjustments & terminations Ensure correct calculation of Dutch 30% ruling benefits for eligible employees Act as the primary contact for payroll-related questions Reconcile payroll accounts and support finance with reporting & audits Identify and implement improvements to streamline payroll processes Our perfect match 💗 3–5 years of payroll experience, ideally in an international/multi-country environment Strong knowledge of Dutch payroll legislation, tax rules, social security & pensions Proven experience applying and calculating the 30% ruling Experience with payroll in Germany and/or Italy is a plus Skilled in working with payroll providers, HRIS/payroll systems & MS Excel Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail Discretion in handling confidential information Excellent English communication skills — Dutch and/or German is a plus Independent, accurate, and able to meet deadlines You share our core values 💩 No bullshit – We value honesty, transparency, and openness.
