The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll. This role manages all payroll-related tasks, including timesheet review, wage calculations, deductions, compliance, company taxes, and reporting. The position requires strong attention to detail, a high level of confidentiality, and deep knowledge of payroll regulations and systems. Note: This position is on-site in Dallas, Texas Key Responsibilities Process biweekly or semi-monthly payroll for all employees with accuracy and timeliness. Review, verify, and reconcile timesheets, attendance records, and approved hours. Maintain payroll records and employee data, including changes in compensation. Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions and other earnings according to policy and legal requirements. Process deductions such as taxes, benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations. Generate payroll reports for HR, Finance, and leadership as needed. Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies. Coordinate with HR to ensure accuracy of employee status changes and benefits deductions. Support Finance to reconcile payroll accounts and support month-end and year-end closing processes. Assist with audits, including internal, external, and governmental audits. Prepare and distribute W-2s, 1099s, and other required tax documentation. Requirements Qualifications, Education, & Experience Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of payroll processing experience. Experience with Paycor preferred, but experience with other comparable HR/payroll systems such as Paycom, ADP, Workday, UKG, or other similar systems required. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations (FLSA, wage and hour laws, tax rules). Excellent Excel skills required for payroll processing, data management, and reporting High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HRIS/payroll systems. Preferred Certifications (Optional) Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
