JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles, payroll management, and HRIS systems to effectively support our organization’s financial operations.

SKILLS

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and financial software tools.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll management practices and financial concepts related to accounting.
  • Experience with HRIS systems for efficient data entry and management of employee information.
  • Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting principles is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate account reconciliation.
  • Strong understanding of debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and technical accounting principles.
  • Ability to perform 10 key typing efficiently for data entry tasks.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members across departments such as human resources and finance. Responsibilities
  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time using various payroll software such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, or UltiPro.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure data integrity in the payroll system through regular audits and updates.
  • Manage benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Prepare and file payroll taxes in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct account reconciliations related to payroll transactions and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Collaborate with human resources to ensure accurate reporting of employee hours worked using systems like Kronos or PeopleSoft.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to payroll expenses and liabilities.
  • Support the accounting team with general ledger entries, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping tasks.
  • Provide analysis of payroll data to identify trends or discrepancies that may impact financial reporting.
