PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Position Type: Full-time/Permanent
Location: North York, ON (Hybrid)
Compensation: $70,000 to $80,000/Annually + Bonus + Benefits + Vacation + RRSP
We are supporting our client, a leading Financial Services organization, in their search for a Payroll Specialist. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this individual will be responsible for delivering an exceptional employee experience through the provision of timely and accurate payroll activities and benefit / pension administration services

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-3 years of full-cycle payroll experience in a high-volume environment with salaried, hourly, and commissioned employee groups
  • PCP designation is preferred or in progress
  • Strong experience with payroll systems
  • Experience in the administration of group benefit and defined contribution pension plans is an asset

Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for biweekly payrolls, ensuring the accurate and timely execution of a high volume of transactions for salaried, hourly, and commissioned employee groups. This includes meticulously processing salaries, commissions, bonuses, termination payments, and other special payments in adherence to internal policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain payroll accuracy and compliance by supporting all internal and external audits. This involves conducting biweekly pre-submission audits, assisting with the year-end reconciliation process, and ensuring the timely submission of all regulatory filings and tax forms.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for payroll inquiries, troubleshooting and resolving complex employee queries. Provide technical expertise and guidance to employees and managers on payroll practices, systems, and processes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement. This includes making recommendations to update current payroll and related systems, forms, and workflows to improve operational effectiveness. Produce regular and ad-hoc reports as required to support business needs.
