Location: Remote
The Payroll Tax Lead is responsible for compiling payroll tax data from venture & acquisition and client deal activity to integrate into existing payroll compliance structure. They play a critical function in integrating payroll tax operations of newly acquired companies, including but not limited to completing new tax kits, identifying new account needs, assessing potential compliance risks, developing standard intake processes, and implementing tax practices across multiple jurisdictions consistent with Accenture policy.
The ideal candidate will have experience in high volume, multi-entity environments. and a proactive approach to standardizing payroll tax operations during transitional and post-acquisition phases.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of audit experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in payroll tax compliance, preferably in a multi-entity or V&A-heavy environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Strong technology skills – ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
  • Strong expertise in multi-state and federal payroll tax compliance
  • Experience supporting V&A due diligence and integration projects
  • Ability to assess and manage payroll impacts during organizational venture & acquisition
  • Demonstrated ability to implement tax controls in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Experience supporting V&A due diligence and integration projects
  • Strong payroll acumen

As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York or Washington as set forth below.

Responsibilities
  • Leads payroll tax due diligence efforts during acquisitions, including reviewing legacy practices, identifying risks, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Coordinates the integration of payroll tax records and processes during post-acquisition transitions.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations affecting all operating jurisdictions.
  • Collaborates with Global Payroll, HR, Benefits, Legal, Controllership, and various V&A teams to ensure alignment of payroll tax compliance with broader business strategies.
  • Implements scalable and compliant payroll tax processes across all entities, ensuring consistency with Accenture policy and risk mitigation.
  • Monitors legislative and regulatory changes.
  • Liases with external payroll tax vendors and service providers.
