Position Summary The individual in this position performs routine activities such as processing daily payment files, submitting tax payments, and assisting in account applications. More complex tasks may include researching client issues and communicating findings to clients and/or government agencies. The Payroll Tax Specialist is familiar with standard payroll concepts, payroll tax practices, and procedures. This role will be in-office at our Overland Park location. FLSA Status: Non-exempt Requirements Required Experience and Education Associate degree in related field preferred, with 3-5 years in relevant position or equivalent combination of education and experience. Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or other industry designation preferred. Strong knowledge of payroll tax concepts. Major Duties and Responsibilities Initiates daily direct deposit/ACH transactions Initiate payroll tax payments for electronic submission File payroll tax returns for local, state, and federal jurisdictions Assist clients with tax agency registration Maintain tax rate and frequency for clients Maintain tax filing spreadsheets Respond to tax correspondence and research issues Participate in special projects Desired Skills, Abilities, and Characteristics Proficient in using Microsoft Office Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel High degree of attention to detail and accuracy Analytical mindset with the ability to dig into details and draw insights from data Ability to maintain confidentiality of firm and client information Effectively communicate through oral and written means Client service oriented Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism Ability to work independently on assigned tasks Excellent organizational skills Ability to demonstrate confidence and good judgment when interacting with colleagues, supervisors, and clients Ability to use office equipment including a computer, copier, and printer Ability to work well with others Working Environment AB Payroll, LLC promotes a flexible work environment with a deep commitment to technology and modern work arrangements.
