Description
As a Payroll & Total Rewards Student, you will support the execution of initiatives in the payroll & total rewards space, including assisting with compliance reviews, policy updates, document management, and the development of payroll procedures. You’ll also contribute to ad hoc projects, presentations, and Excel-based reporting, gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced environment that requires independence, collaboration, and attention to detail. The Payroll & Total Rewards team is an integral function of Irving Oil, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while managing benefits, compensation, and pensions. With a large team of over 20 members based primarily at the Home Office, they benchmark best practices to keep compensation and benefits competitive, maintain compliance with legislation, and deliver programs that support the overall employee experience and organizational success. Responsibilities: Support policy work, including creating and refreshing policies related to payroll & total rewards Assist with compliance reviews and contribute to the development of an annual compliance calendar Provide administrative support such as document management and working with the HR Records site Research, develop, and document payroll & total rewards procedures to support governance initiatives Contribute to ad hoc project work and assist with presentations, reporting, and Excel-based analysis Provide general support for benefits administration, assisting with a variety of tasks needed to ensure smooth program operations Your Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in administrative tasks Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team Clear communication skills, both written and verbal Effective time management skills to meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Your Experience: Currently enrolled in Business Administration with a strong interest in Human Resources Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be returning to school What We Offer: Professional Development – Student focused learning & development sessions, mentorships and networking events Student Benefits – Housing allowance, co-op fee reimbursement and parking allowance for qualifying candidates.
