Urgently Looking For An Automotive PCB Repair Technician
specializes in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing the complex electronic circuit boards found in modern vehicles
- Responsibilities
- Diagnose electronic faults: Use automotive diagnostic tools, digital multimeters (DMMs), and oscilloscopes to pinpoint failures on automotive PCBs, including ECUs, transmission control modules (TCMs), and other vehicle control units.
- Perform component-level repairs: Precisely solder and de-solder surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole components to replace damaged parts like microchips, capacitors, and resistors on a faulty PCB.
- Interpret schematics: Read and understand complex automotive circuit schematics and wiring diagrams to trace signals and troubleshoot power or communication issues.
- Test and calibrate systems: After repair, perform thorough functional and electrical tests to ensure the PCB operates according to the vehicle’s specifications.
- Document repairs: Maintain detailed records of all diagnostic procedures, repair actions, and test results, often using specialized computer software.
- Stay current on technology: Keep up to date with the latest advancements in automotive electronics, including hybrid, electric vehicle (EV), and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) technology.
- Adhere to safety standards: Follow all safety guidelines for handling hazardous electronic components and for working with vehicle electrical systems.
- Collaborate with technicians: Work with automotive mechanics and other technicians to integrate repaired electronics back into the vehicle and resolve larger system issues.
Required skills and qualifications
- Education: A diploma, associate degree, or certification in automotive electronics or a related field is preferred.
- Automotive-specific knowledge: A strong understanding of a vehicle’s interconnected electronic systems and the unique environmental conditions (e.g., vibration, temperature changes) that automotive PCBs must withstand.
- Advanced soldering skills: Expert-level soldering and rework skills for complex, multi-layered circuit boards.
- Diagnostic proficiency: Experience using specialized automotive and electronic testing equipment, including factory-level diagnostic software.
- Problem-solving: Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues that may not have obvious mechanical causes.
- Attention to detail: Meticulous approach for handling delicate components and preventing electrostatic discharge (ESD).
- Communication: Ability to clearly explain complex technical issues to both colleagues and customers.
