JOB SUMMARY

We are a dynamic law firm specializing in real estate, family, estate, and corporate law. We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Bookkeeper to manage our financial operations, with a particular focus on real estate transactions. As the sole bookkeeper, you will work closely with the managing partners to ensure efficient and compliant financial processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, specifically within a law firm environment. Experience in a real estate law firm is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and legal financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and office tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with the legal team.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year

Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management: Analyze G/L statements for discrepancies and make adjustments.
  • Billings & Invoices: Review associate lawyers’ billings and oversee all departmental billings (dockets, flat fees).
  • Bank & Account Reconciliations: Handle trust and general bank reconciliations, pre-paid account reconciliations, and month-end accounting.
  • Payroll & Tax: Manage payroll postings, HST calculations, Levy Surcharge payments, and ensure timely payments.
  • Trust Account & File Management: Monitor trust accounts, manage closed files, and perform real estate closing cheque preparation.
  • Payment & Expense Posting: Handle accounts payable, credit card reconciliations, and expense postings from platforms like Teranet, Oncorp, and DivorceMate.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Conduct monthly partner meetings to review finances, prepare banking, and ensure compliance with LSO requirements.
    Software Tools: PCLaw, Outlook, Excel, Word, QuickBooks, Oncorp
