Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and technically skilled PCR Leader to spearhead our programme aimed at maximising Post-Consumer Resin (PCR) inclusion across all plastic packaging formats. This role is critical to achieving our sustainability targets including a 40% reduction in virgin plastic usage by 2028. The successful candidate will lead cross-business group initiatives, develop technical standards, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive innovation in recycling technologies.

Responsibilities

Scope covers all recycling technologies where the outputs are current materials specifically (i.e. PE/PP/PET). Covers all component types (bottles, caps, flexibles, pumps, tubes, tubs, jars etc)

  • Lead and deliver a cross-business group PCR programme aligned with business needs.
  • Identify and evaluate new PCR grades, suppliers, and enabling technologies (e.g., additives).
  • Set and maintain PCR standards including specifications, test methods, and migration requirements.
  • Develop and manage chemical and enzymatic recycling programmes.
  • Improve sorting processes to enhance PCR quality.
  • Provide technical support for challenges such as ESCR, odour, non-food-grade rPET, and food-grade polyolefins.
  • Drive increased PCR usage across all component types (bottles, caps, flexibles, pumps, tubes, tubs, jars).
  • Build and share technical understanding of PCR materials and their properties.
  • Develop standardised ways of working and approval processes.
  • Engage across the end-to-end PCR value chain and support advocacy and lobbying efforts.
  • Represent the company in external industry groups (e.g., CGF, SSPP).
  • Collaborate with internal teams including Packaging, Quality, Procurement, Regulatory, and SEAC.
  • Lead a PCR Community of Practice and support skills development.
  • Manage R&D budgets and prioritisation within the PCR programme.
