Responsibilities

By being the key coach in the PDC, the role is responsible for delivering all aspects of the PDC program in North Wales.

This will be achieved by:

  • Overseeing and managing the Talent Discovery Phase (14-16) and the Emerging Player Programme (EPP) across 2 – 3 sites, ensuring all training and competition programmes are delivered effectively and are fully aligned with the Player Development Centre’s (PDC) vision and objectives. This includes responsibility for staff, planning and leading training sessions, providing direct on-field coaching, managing logistical and handling essential administrative tasks.
  • Delivering a structured and age-appropriate curriculum in the Emerging Player Programme, with a focus on technical skill development, tactical understanding, teamwork, and positive behaviours.
  • Collaborating closely with other PDC staff to ensure evidence-based talent identification and confirmation principles are in place to ensure a robust and sustainable talent pipeline of players of long-term potential.
  • Developing strong relationships across North Wales, working with local clubs, schools, and colleges to promote the game and increase opportunities and access for young players.
  • Support coaches in the PDC network (particularly those working in the Talent Discovery and Talent Development Phases) with mentoring and practical resources to enhance coaching standards across both the Talent Discovery and Talent Development Phases.
  • Supporting coaching delivery to the Talent Development (TDG, 16–18) and Performance Development Groups (TDG, 18+).
  • At designated points throughout the year, contribute to national projects and programmes in line with the WRU Women’s and Girls’ Strategic Objectives, as directed by the PDC Lead and Women’s Pathway Manager & Coach.
