PE TEACHER (EARLY YEARS & JUNIOR SCHOOL - 3-11 YEARS OLD)
St Georgeʼs British International School is seeking an enthusiastic Early Years & Junior School PE
Teacher whose passion for primary PE is both creative and inspirational and who will bring energy
and ideas to a successful and growing department within the school. The successful candidate will
join a community where their skills will continue to be developed within a stimulating and
supportive environment. The role is available on a full-time basis commencing in September 2025.
The successful candidate will be based at one of our Junior School Campuses - La Storta or City
Centre in the heart of Rome.

Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
- To possess a relevant pedagogical approach to teaching PE
- To work with the Junior School Leadership Team along with the PE teacher (City Centre/La
Storta campus) and the Head of PE (Senior School), to ensure that provision in the Junior
Schools is appropriate and relevant, and leads towards an effective transition to Senior
School PE
- To promote a well organised and stimulating learning environment to enable all pupils to
show progression
- To show a deep understanding of and a desire to improve physical literacy within our
community
- To develop, along with the teacher of Junior School PE at our other campus, effective and
engaging programmes of study for the Junior School community
- To create an environment for children to explore and consolidate movement skills
- To create strategies to develop the skills of locomotion, stability and object control in a
developmentally appropriate way
- To maintain an up to date knowledge of current curriculum developments and initiatives in
PE and Sport
- To be aware of, and comply with, all the School policies including those for planning,
assessment,reporting, and teaching and learning
- To develop and share schemes of work and resources, using in-house formats
- To assist with covering colleagues as required
- To attend all meetings and INSET as required
Pastoral
- Demonstrate professional curiosity in relation to each studentʼs wellbeing and welfare, and
foster the personal and social developments of each student in their care
- Actively promote the social, moral and cultural ethos of the school community
- Create an atmosphere of support by being aware of, and fully compliant with, all of the
schoolʼs pastoral policies
- Be familiar with all the schoolʼs policies on Health and Safety, Behaviour and Pastoral Care
and be proactive in ensuring the safety of all members of the school community at all

Professional
- Promote pride in the school among the pupil body through high standards of dress,

- Ensure that all communication is acted upon appropriately and in a timely manner
- Attend Parentsʼ Evenings, Assemblies and other school events during term time as the
Head of School/Principal may, from time to time, require
- Be responsible for all school resources, particularly those in your care, reporting damage
or loss to the appropriate authority within the school
- Contribute to the virtual learning environment, the website, social media and publications
in support of your work
- Contribute to the schoolʼs Self Evaluation and Strategic Plan
- Foster a close partnership with parents, initiating contact in appropriate circumstances
and ensuring that there is a record of this
- Carry out any reasonable professional request made by the Principal or Head of School
