JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric and Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to the pediatric dentist and orthodontist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for our pediatric and orthodontic patients. Your expertise in dental assisting will help facilitate efficient patient care while promoting positive dental experiences for children, teens and adults, (adults are only treated in the orthodontic practice).

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience as a pediatric dental assistant, or general dental assistant, and previous experience in orthodontics.
• Proficient understanding of terminology relevant to dental and orthodontic care.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, teens and their families.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating organization, learning, compassion and patience.
• Familiarity with slow speed handpiece, sealants placement, and Microsoft Windows proficiency is highly desirable.
• Spanish speaking is always helpful, too.

• Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Orthodontic assisting including arch wire changes, bonding and debonding braces, retainers and attachments, records and deliveries.
• Prepare treatment rooms by ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are ready for use.
• Take and record vital signs to monitor patient health before, during, and after procedures.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient treatments and progress.
• Educate patients and their guardians on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment.
• Support the dentist with exams, restorations, and hygiene procedures; help perform other procedures and functions in the office when needed.
• Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming atmosphere for patients in the clinic.
