Job Details Level: Experienced Job Location: El Paso Childrens Hospital - El Paso, TX 79905 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: Graduate Degree Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Rotating Job Category: Health Care Position Summary Prepares and dispenses medications to patients. Assesses the appropriateness of the physician's medication orders. Provides accurate and appropriate drug information to health care professionals. Coordinates or performs functions detailed in the compounding and dispensing procedures. Provides care to patients of varying ages with age related needs. Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements Work Experience: No previous work experience required. Preferably one (1) or more years work experience in a Pediatric Hospital. License/Registration/Certification: Current Pharmacy license in Texas, or ability to be licensed within 6 months if recent Pharmacy graduate. Preceptor license within one (1) year of hire Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Approved Sterile Compounding Certification or letter from an accredited school of pharmacy confirming Sterile Compounding Certification with a minimum 20 hours of training completed Pediatric Advanced Life Supports (PALS) within 6 months of hire; for existing employees, within 6 months of signing the job description Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire; for existing employees, within 6 months of signing job description Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months of hire; for existing employees, within 6 months of signing job description Education and Training: Graduation from accredited School of Pharmacy. 12 hours of Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) approved continuing education per year. Required Skills: Knowledge and experience with Unit Dosed medications and IV additives and therapeutics Knowledge of law, regulations, and accreditation standards related to the distribution and control of scheduled and non-scheduled drugs and pharmacy security. Advanced computer skills. Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff and patients.
