Description:
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University School of Medicine are actively seeking a sleep medicine physician to join our Division of Pulmonology Medicine.
The successful candidate will be a key member of our growing team of 28 pulmonologists, including eight who practice sleep medicine, 16 advanced practice practitioners, including two who practice sleep medicine, and 14 PhDs.
The pulmonology team includes research faculty with a broad range of expertise, but with a strong focus on cystic fibrosis, asthma and other airway diseases. Staff members also have expertise in treating medically complex children from birth through 21 years of age, including those with craniofacial abnormalities and genetic syndromes. We have a busy and diverse clinical service with experienced faculty who specialize in pulmonary hypertension, aerodigestive disorders, sleep medicine, pulmonary sickle cell disease, technology-dependent children, severe asthma and cystic fibrosis.

The sleep medicine physician will have the following responsibilities along with additional duties as assigned:

  • Perform complete physical assessments.
  • Conduct sleep studies.
  • Order medications and medical devices as needed.
  • Perform and order tests in a timely manner.
  • Participate with all quality improvements and assurance initiatives.
  • Use and endorse the use of all the practice’s automated systems as needed.
  • Conduct appropriate follow-up to ensure appropriate levels of care.
  • Ensure all preventative medicine testing is conducted on a routine basis.

The position will offer the opportunity to teach residents and mentor graduating fellows.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.
  • Graduate of an accredited, post graduate residency program In Pediatrics or Med/Peds.
  • Graduate of an accredited, post graduate fellowship training In Sleep Medicine.
  • Board certified or eligible in Sleep Medicine.
  • Licensed in the state of Georgia, current DEA registration, BLS and PALS certification.

Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Children’s

  • We are specialized in our ability to evaluate sleep disordered breathing in children with complex medical conditions such as neuromuscular disease, craniofacial syndrome, chronic lung diseases and respiratory control disorders.
  • Our pediatric pulmonologists participate in many highly specialized, multidisciplinary programs and clinics, including those for high-risk asthma, aerodigestive disorders, flexible bronchoscopy, primary ciliary dyskinesia, neuromuscular disorders, diaphragm pacing for congenital central hypoventilation syndrome (CCHS) and pulmonary hypertension.
  • Our Aerodigestive Clinic is one of the largest pediatric aerodigestive clinics in the country and one of the only in the Southeast.
  • Children’s Cystic Fibrosis Program is accredited by the national Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is among the largest in the country.
  • We actively lead and participate in a myriad of NIH funded investigator-initiated clinical and basic science research efforts in addition to industry-sponsored clinical research activities performed through the Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutic Development Network.
  • We oversee an active ACGME-accredited pediatric pulmonology fellowship training program and a non-ACGME-accredited pediatric sleep medicine fellowship training program.
