Job Title: Paediatric Therapy Assistant (Community Autism Support)
Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Paediatric Therapy Assistant to support children with autism in the community setting. The successful candidate will work alongside qualified therapists to deliver tailored interventions, promote developmental progress, and support children and their families in achieving meaningful goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed therapists in implementing individualized therapy plans for children with autism.
- Support children during therapy sessions, activities, home visits, online, and community outings.
- Observe and document children’s progress, behaviors, and responses to interventions.
- Foster a safe, engaging, and supportive environment that encourages learning and development.
- Support families by providing guidance, resources, and emotional support.
- Promote social, communication, and everyday life skills through play and structured activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all safeguarding and data protection policies.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Relevant qualification in childhood development, special education, or a related field or the willingness to complete our certification program prior to starting
- Experience working with children with autism or in a community/educational setting preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a child-centered approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and associated strategies.
- Valid vulnerable sector clearance or willingness to obtain one.
- The ability to work with multiple stakeholders such as the child, child, funders, therapists, executive team and managers
Additional Requirements:
- Access to a car is highly beneficial for this position, as it may involve travel between community locations and home visits.
- A current police and vulnerable sector check.
- Children and infants First Aid and CPR certification.
Desirable Attributes:
- First aid certification.
- Experience with sensory integration techniques.
- Experience working under a therapist or a team of therapists.
