POSITION OVERVIEW

Pediatricians at our Wilson Community Health Center in Wilson, NC, are responsible for promoting health, treating disease and establishing and maintaining an individual treatment plan for infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents. This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of a residency program in pediatrics.
  • Demonstrated competence to perform the duties of pediatrician.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Two years minimum of clinical experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Individuals may need to sit or stand for long periods of time, occasional bending, stooping, lifting including of patients, reaching forwards and overhead.
  • Possibly requires walking primarily on a level service for periods throughout the day.
  • Both proper lifting techniques and frequent computer work are required.
  • Must be able to travel freely in the local area; between clinics, hospitals, health departments, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Participates in the development of the organization’s health care plan, based on need, resources, and health behaviors of the targeted population.
  • Reports to the CMO any problems in the day-to-day clinical operations or the practice with the ability to adversely affect the quality of patient care.
  • Works with the healthcare team to promote good public relations and cultivates cooperative relationships within the healthcare community.
  • Conduct thorough examinations on newborns and young children to check and record their health and normal physical development.
  • Examine sick infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents, to determine their condition and ask intuitive questions to gather information about symptoms.
  • Determine an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and individual medical history.
  • Formulate an evidence-based plan of treatment. When prescribing medications, provide detailed instructions for administration.
