Description

The Suffolk Wellbeing Service is part of the national accredited IAPT initiative. The aim of this is to increase mental health access to those living in Suffolk aged 16 and above who are experiencing mild to moderate levels of anxiety and depression. The service works in conjunction with Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) by providing low and high intensity mental health care to the local population.
Suffolk Wellbeing are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Peer Mentor Band 3 working alongside our Therapists as part of our service user’s recovery journey.
The posts will be based in either Ipswich or Bury St Edmunds, but travel will be required as part of the role to work across Suffolk This is a full-time post. Working hours are between 8am and 8pm and could involve some weekend work
The Peer Mentor will provide formalised peer mentoring to service users in order for them to regain control over their lives and enable their own unique recovery journey. They will act as a role model to peers, carers, staff and others from a ‘lived experience’ perspective.
Peer Mentors will show empathy, share experiences, inspire hope and promote recovery, with the aim of assisting service users on both a 1:1 and group basis, to gain and maintain maximum levels of independence in the community.
The Peer Mentor will be a Champion and act as an ambassador of recovery within a service setting and for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisations.
We welcome applicants that speak more than one language.
Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other.
