Description Our Mission is to provide compassionate care and services to empower individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental illnesses, and homelessness to attain an enhanced quality of life regardless of ability to pay. Position Profile: The Peer Navigator works with clients as they transition between the Milestone medical detox to applicable community services. The Peer Navigator provides services to clients who are currently inpatient in the Milestone detox program, and in a short-term capacity in the community assisting to link post-detox clients to treatment, case management, housing, or other necessary resources. Special focus will be on clients who have had multiple episodes of detox care. Regular travel within the Greater Portland area is required. Qualifications Required: Identify as a person in recovery and successfully complete Peer Recovery Coach training, as well as obtain certification as a Certified Intention Peer Support Specialist. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to transport clients to appointments. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Function as a member of the Milestone detox treatment team which includes responsibilities such as the following: Work in a professional, compassionate manner with Milestone clients. Work in a collegial manner with other Milestone staff, as well as community partners and stakeholders, and representing Milestone in a professional manner. Participate with counseling and nursing staff in the development and timely implementation of discharge plans of Milestone detox clients. Document activities in client record. Collect data as required Participate in supervision with the Clinical Team Lead. Facilitate transport and escort clients to first appointments with community providers, including follow up after first appointments. Maintain strict confidentiality of clients served, and otherwise operate in a professional manner. May be called upon to offer perspectives and professional opinions as pertains to the development of public policy on issues of concern to Milestone. Perform other related duties as assigned. Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday 8:30am-6:30pm. Peer Navigator Compensation: $20.00/hour Peer Navigator Shift Differentials: Extra $2.50/hour for weekend shifts
