Description Our Mission is to provide compassionate care and services to empower individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental illnesses, and homelessness to attain an enhanced quality of life regardless of ability to pay. Position Profile: The Peer Recovery Coach provides support and acts as a resource to clients who are currently in the Milestone Extended Care Program, a 6-9 month program designed for individuals transitioning from recovery to independent living. Peer Recovery Coach - Compensation $20.00 - $22.00 an hour, based on experience. Peer Recovery Coach - Differentials +$2.50/hour weekends. Qualifications Required: Identify with individuals in long term recovery. Has certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Coach and be willing to work towards becoming a Certified Intentional Peer Support. Must possess a valid Maine driver’s license, have a reliable vehicle, and be able to transport clients to appointments when needed (will need to show proof of registration, auto insurance, and current inspection). Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provide support and encouragement to clients throughout treatment by being available in the milieu for games, conversation, and any other kind of engagement Participate in outlined groups as staff with the goal of practicing empathy and modeling for the clients Foster connection to these clients to support them in implementing the aftercare plans that the clients outline with clinical staff If client chooses to transition to aftercare outside the Milestone campus, be available for transportation needs to that location Attend peer recovery meetings (AA/NA) with clients to be available to those who are anxious/ambivalent about participation in peer recovery work Assist with transportation of clients to appointments when MaineCare transportation is unavailable Participate in Motivational Interviewing training (Basics, Advanced, Masters class weekly) to develop skills consistent with program core values and develop client engagement with peer recovery work within the Milestone Community Assist with general housework and facility upkeep Physical demands and work environment: Freedom of movement on a regular basis. Operating basic office equipment in a normal office environment. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. May spend extended periods operating a desktop computer, requiring hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity; physical activity requires walking, bending, standing and lifting.
