Overview Shift: Monday-Friday; 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM The Peer Recovery Specialist is an individual who is personally in recovery from a serious mental illness who has completed training to best use their personal recovery story to instill hope in others. This position is directly supervised by the Department Manager and provides care to consumers utilizing the Robert Young Center principles of Trauma Informed Care. The Peer Recovery Specialist serves as a member of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic CCBHC and provides recovery oriented in-home and community-based services for adults with severe mental illnesses in both individual and group peer support services. Responsibilities Assures that all consumers receive clinically sound triage/referral and ongoing consumer services for behavioral health needs. Collects information necessary to develop an accurate assessment of each consumer Participates in the development of the consumer treatment plan. Provides mentoring, individual and group support, and teaches self-advocacy and motivation through feedback. Provides community outreach and sustained efforts to engage individual clients. Provides linkage to mental health services and programs including but not limited to psychiatric services, medication management, and representative payee. Evaluate the consumer’s treatment plan through follow-up assessment and recommends adjustments based on clinical findings. Qualifications Education: Requires GED or High School Diploma Completion of, or willingness to complete within 6 months (after date of hire) approved Peer Support Training Model Must have lived experience with a mental health, or behavioral health condition and in recovery Be willing to apporiately share elements of their experience with others in a professional and supportive manner License(s)/Certification(s): Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 6 months of hire. Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
