Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

PSSEO provides support and services within South East Ontario to people who are living with addiction and/or Mental Health and seeking Peer Support as a ways and means of managing and working toward being well.
The Coordinator role, reports to the Chief Executive Officer for Peer Support South East Ontario (PSSEO) overseeing the Peer Support Centres, Community Peer Support Services and the coordination of education services. The position provides direction, leadership, and supervision to Peer Support Staff. In collaboration with the leadership of PSSEO, plans, organizes, and directs all activities in accordance with the agency’s Strategic Plan, Accreditation Standards and policies and procedures of Peer Support South East Ontario.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Models the Agency’s philosophy, values, and Code of Conduct. Develops and annually reviews the goals and objectives based on the Agency’s Strategic Plan.
  2. Collaboratively prepares annual staffing, operating, and capital equipment budgets. Implements and maintains approved budgets, ensuring fiscal accountability.
  3. Reviews/approves staff payroll, while monitoring staff attendance.
  4. Ensures completion of staff performance appraisals (probationary/annual).
  5. Provides overall direction for staff training and assists in the coordination of continuing education programs.
  6. Ensures that equipment and other facilities are kept in safe and effective working condition. Oversees and audits maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
  7. Record and document statistics monthly, in accordance with MIS Guidelines.
  8. Monitor daily activities within each Support Centre, i.e., attendances, individual and group programs in alignment with the expectations PSSEO.
  9. Develops and coordinates a departmental Quality Measurement Plan, ensuring ongoing evaluation of the quality of service provided.
  10. Ensures students meet Agency requirements (immunization records, police checks, etc) and that tools required for the successful aspect of program completion are provided.
  11. Maintains a safe work environment. Develops and maintains safety procedures. Provides regular safety training for staff, including WHMIS, back care, fire safety, AODA, Bill 168. Models and enforces compliance with policies and procedures.
  12. Co-ordinates the development and maintenance of the Quality Management Program assuring compliance with requirements. Co-ordinates development and maintenance of a customer focused Quality Assurance Program for the Centres and ensures ongoing evaluation of the quality of services and the performance of all staff, Peer satisfaction, quality audits, etc.
  13. Represents the Agency at community meetings/committees. Explores and implements opportunities for collaboration in collaboration with the CEO.
  14. Completes annual staff needs assessment related to identified staff educational requirements.
  15. Supports the coordination of on-going education initiatives across the organization through the development of an annual Education Calendar. Acts as point of contact for student placements across the organization.
  16. Flexible scheduling which may include evening hours and rotational on-call.
    EDUCATION: College Diploma or University Degree or a combination of education and experience in health-related discipline, health administration, is required.
    EXPERIENCE: 2+ Years of supervisory experience, preferably within the field of Addictions and Mental Health Sector.
    Knowledge the budgeting process is essential.
    Valid driver’s license with a clear driver abstract required with access to a reliable vehicle.
    Computer skills are essential, familiarity with Microsoft 365.
    Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and cooperatively with all levels of staff and the public.
    Demonstrate communication, organizational, and time management skills.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $26.00-$31.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 37.5 per week
