Description Job Summary The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) assigned to the Director of Operations (DOO) performs the duties of entry level support staff, focusing on providing one-on-one peer support services. The PSS addresses individual support needs and assists clients with day-to-day problem-solving related to normalization, stabilization, and reintegration into the community. The Peer Support Specialist utilizes best practices in assertive engagement, harm reduction, and peer support to effectively engage individuals both in the community and within the facility. The PSS embraces recovery-oriented principles and actively promotes a safe, respectful, and inclusive recovery environment for all clients. Essential Job Duties Provide one-on-one peer support services to clients, drawing from lived experience to support recovery and wellness Engage clients using assertive engagement, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented best practices Support clients with day-to-day problem-solving related to stabilization, normalization, and reintegration into the community Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized facility by supporting daily housekeeping tasks and encouraging shared responsibility for communal spaces Assist clients in identifying personal recovery goals and developing self-advocacy skills Provide emotional support, encouragement, and motivation while modeling healthy coping skills and recovery behaviors Help clients navigate community resources, appointments, transportation, employment, housing, and social services as appropriate Accompany clients to appointments or community-based activities when needed and approved Promote a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed recovery environment within the facility and community settings Maintain professional boundaries while fostering trust and rapport with clients Accurately document services, interactions, and progress in the electronic health record in accordance with agency policy and regulatory requirements Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, nursing, and leadership to support coordinated care Report concerns related to client safety, relapse risk, or behavioral changes to appropriate team members Comply with all agency policies, confidentiality standards (HIPAA), and ethical guidelines Participate in required trainings, supervision, and ongoing professional development Additional tasks as assigned by supervisor Requirements Minimum Qualifications Current, valid driver’s license Clear 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certification required, or ability to obtain certification within 120 days of employment
