Description The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery-oriented, peer-based support to individuals receiving behavioral health services by drawing upon lived experience. This position focuses on promoting hope, empowerment, and engagement while supporting individuals in achieving their personal recovery goals. Peer Support Specialists are non-clinical staff and serve as essential members of the treatment team. This role involves working collaboratively with clinical and case management staff while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality. Primary Responsibilities: Provide peer-to-peer support using lived experience to promote recovery and engagement Assist individuals in identifying goals, strengths, and recovery strategies Support linkage to community-based resources and services Model healthy coping skills, self-advocacy, and recovery-oriented behaviors Collaborate with clinical and case management staff as part of a multidisciplinary team Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times Complete required documentation accurately and within established timelines Attend supervision, team meetings, and required trainings Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and ethical standards Schedule: Regular shift: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM May include occasional weekends or holidays based on program needs Requirements Certified Peer Support Specialist (Ohio) – required Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery High school diploma or GED required Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Ability to work the scheduled shift of 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds Reliable attendance and ability to meet productivity and documentation expectations
