Description

SOAR Community Services offers a continuum of social housing services to meet client needs ranging from homelessness to independent living. As part of the continuum, we offer Emergency Shelter Intake Services, Transitional Housing and Supportive Housing programs.
Transitional Housing supports individuals aged 18-29 years old by providing a structured, supportive environment designed to help individuals move from homelessness or housing instability toward permanent housing. By drawing from lived experience of homelessness, mental health and/or addiction challenges, the Transitional Housing Peer Support Worker will assist and mentor individuals living in Transitional Housing by supporting them in building the life skills required to move onto independent living.

As the Peer Support Worker for the Transitional Housing program, you will:

  • Integrate personal recovery process and lived experience of the homelessness, mental health and/or addiction system to support consumers in their own journey.
  • Provide emotional support, group support services, and linkages with community resources; and instruction in life skills.
  • Deliver direct client service for vulnerable and marginalized individuals in Transitional Housing by meeting with them onsite, supporting them in accessing or attending appointments
  • Work collaboratively with the Housing Services team in order to ensure program delivery to all clients.
  • Integrate a harm reduction approach.
  • Ensure all documentation, filing, and paperwork is completed according to Agency standards in multiple electronic databases for reporting requirements.
