WE ARE SEEKING A WARMLINE OPERATOR THURSDAY-SATURDAY, EVENINGS FROM 5-9 PM.JOB SUMMARY:

The Peer Support Telephone Operator provides empathetic, non-judgmental support to individuals experiencing emotional distress, mental health challenges, or recovery-related issues via telephone. Drawing from their own lived experience, the Peer Support Operator offers encouragement, active listening, and resources while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Lived experience with mental health challenges, substance use recovery, or other relevant life experiences.
  • Completion of certified peer support training (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in high-stress or emotional situations.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of local/community mental health or support services is an asset.
    Job Type: Part-time
    Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 15 per week

Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming support line calls in a timely, respectful, and compassionate manner.
  • Provide peer-based emotional support, validation, and encouragement.
  • Use personal lived experience to foster hope and connection, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Assess caller needs and provide information about available resources and referrals as necessary.
  • Document calls and interactions accurately, following organizational protocols.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training.
  • Report any risk situations (e.g., suicidal ideation, harm to others) to supervisors per established policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards at all times.
