Description

OUR MISSION

We’re making Africa the first cashless continent.
In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That’s for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We’re solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don’t always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across six countries and are growing fast.
Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent and that’s where you come in…

HOW YOU’LL HELP US ACHIEVE IT

Wave is now the largest financial institution in Senegal, with over 7 million users. And, we’re still in the early days of our product roadmap and potential impact on people’s everyday lives. We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join our People Tech team.

In this role, you’ll;

  • Be embedded in the People Tech team where you will work closely with a People Tech manager, the wider People Ops teams and in some cases teams outside of People Ops such as Support teams.
  • Derive insights from People data, visualize and communicate these in ways that improve user and business outcomes.

    • Analyze and mine data for trends and patterns with a focus on diversity, turnover, retention, talent acquisition, reward, and other areas of the business as required.
  • Help to identify and communicate data issues/concerns to maximise data quality and improve insight.
  • Ensure high standards of data privacy, accuracy, and quality are maintained.
  • Oversee dashboard and data warehouse functionality, working closely with People Operations, IT, and data engineering teams to ensure data quality, data governance, and system integrity.
  • Navigate large data sets to identify drivers that can improve People outcomes and generate testable hypotheses.
  • Take ownership of your projects (with support from your manager), adhoc requests and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain People Analytics dashboards.
  • Support People Tech in day to day adhoc requests and data change requests.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education and Experience

    • 3+ years experience as a People analyst, data analyst, product analyst, business analyst or similar role.

    • Strong demonstrable experience in working with large datasets with thorny identity problems.
    • Preference for candidates who have worked within a People team/HR setting.
    • Technical skills

      • Strong SQL and python experience, with a strong preference for candidates who’ve worked with dbt, fivetran and dagster (or an equivalent orchestration tool).

      • Proficiency in basic statistical analysis, data cleaning, preparation and data manipulation.
      • Experience working with data visualization platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Periscope etc.
      • Strong data visualization and communication skills. Being able to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders is a key skill we are looking for.
