About the role The People and Performance Specialist focusses on the critical areas of performance management, workplace investigations, and a range of employee relations (ER) activities. Reporting to the Employee Relations Manager, this position sits within the centralised People Advisory function and is responsible for ensuring the organisation's people processes are fair, consistent, and efficient. This role provides expert advice, supports people leaders in navigating nuanced people matters, and champions capability uplift to deliver best practice process. This role plays an instrumental part in driving procedural fairness and enhancing the overall employee experience while working to identify trends and learning needs that support prevention of future people issues. This is a contract position until late December 2026 and is based at St Leonards with hybrid opportunities. What we can offer you We care about your wellbeing at HammondCare and as a result offer a wide range of health and lifestyle benefits including: NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefit (up to $2,650 tax free) Additional leave purchase options and 14 weeks paid parental leave Flexible working options, including hybrid arrangements Discounts on everyday products and services Discounted healthcare memberships - access to network of fitness centres and pools for employees and families Free access to independent counselling support for employees and families Health & Wellbeing programmes Reward & Recognition programmes Referral bonuses Career and professional development opportunities Key Responsibilities include Provide support to the HammondCare Leadership Group on complex people issues, as referred by People Partners Lead and manage performance and disciplinary processes, ensuring they are conducted fairly, effectively, and consistently across the organisation Conduct workplace investigations related to grievances, misconduct, and performance issues, ensuring high quality, thorough documentation and compliance with legal standards Advise people leaders on navigating complex people matters, including ER aspects of non-work-related injuries, union engagement, and Fair Work Commission matters Establish and drive best practice people processes, focusing on procedural fairness, efficiency, and a positive people experience Collaborate with people leaders to build their capability in managing performance, people issues, and delivering consistent people processes Provide insights into emerging people issues across the organisation and recommend solutions to prevent escalation, including additional learning and development needs for leaders and employees Support capability development in leaders and the broader People team in the application of contemporary ER practice and procedure Create and manage tools and resources that empower people leaders to handle complex people matters effectively and consistently About you Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action. At least 5 years’ experience in a people-focused human resources role, with experience in performance management, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations. Working knowledge and experience in managing complex issues and an understanding of workplace laws. Experience supporting senior leaders and People Partners with expert advice and guidance on people and performance matters. Strong understanding of performance management frameworks, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations. Ability to analyse and identify trends in employee relations, performance, and engagement to provide proactive solutions. Demonstrated capability in delivering training or coaching to people leaders Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and advise leaders effectively. High attention to detail and ability to manage complex, sensitive issues with discretion and fairness.
