Hassell, a leading global design practice, is looking for an experienced People & Culture Business Partner to join our Sydney studio on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. We are also open to part-time arrangements for candidates seeking flexibility. In this role, you will partner closely with our Studio Leadership team to support our people and help shape a workplace where everyone can thrive. You will bring a strong generalist HR background, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to delivering people initiatives and practical day-to-day support. What you’ll do Partner with studio leaders to implement people practices that support business goals Participate in group initiatives and projects as part of the broader People team Support the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through to offboarding Guide performance and development conversations, review cycles and career growth initiatives Provide advice and support on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and workplace concerns Contribute to employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and retention initiatives Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation and internal people policies Build trusted relationships across the studio and help maintain a positive, inclusive culture Qualifications What you’ll bring Solid experience in an HR or People & Culture Business Partner role A background in professional services, design or a creative environment is highly desirable Strong knowledge of HR best practice, employee relations and performance management In-depth understanding of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES) and modern awards Experience partnering with and influencing senior leaders Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion Confidence working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities Why Hassell At Hassell, our people are central to our success.
