Description
The People & Culture Business Partner serves as a trusted people partner to leaders and team members across our Texas region. This role blends the foundational responsibilities of a Human Resources Business Partner with a strong emphasis on employee relations, culture, engagement, training, and on-site partnership. This is a highly visible, field-facing role ideal for someone who enjoys being present with teams, navigating complex situations, and supporting leaders in building strong, engaged, and compliant workplaces - particularly in a market-based environment. WHAT YOU’LL DO (Essential Functions): Foster a culture built on our values: Respect Learning, Do the Right Thing, WOW Service, and Fun Employee Relations & People Partnership Serve as the primary People & Culture partner for leaders and team members across all Texas hospitals. Provide hands-on guidance and support on employee relations matters, including performance concerns, conflict resolution, investigations, corrective action, and terminations. Coach leaders on effective people management, communication, and leadership behaviors aligned with company values. Ensure consistent, fair, and legally compliant application of people practices and policies. Culture, Engagement & Training Support Actively support a positive, inclusive, and high-engagement culture within hospitals and regional teams. Partner with People & Culture and Training teams to facilitate and support leadership training, manager development, and people-related workshops. Help translate enterprise People & Culture initiatives into practical, regionally relevant execution. Identify culture and engagement trends in the field and elevate insights, risks, and recommendations. Compliance & Operational Excellence Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across a multi-state workforce, in partnership with People Operations and Legal. Partner on the rollout and implementation of people programs, policies, and processes. Maintain accurate documentation and follow best practices related to employee records and confidentiality. Field Presence & Relationship Building Maintain a regular on-site presence in hospitals (approximately 3 days per week) to build trust, visibility, and strong working relationships. Serve as a connector between hospital teams and the broader People & Culture organization. What we’re looking for (Essential Qualifications): 5–8 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, People Operations, or HR Business Partner roles. Strong experience supporting multi-site and/or multi-state teams. Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, performance management, and manager coaching. Experience facilitating and supporting training, workshops, or people-related learning initiatives. Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. Ability to build credibility and influence with leaders at all levels. Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the region. Preferred Experience in human healthcare, animal healthcare, veterinary, or other regulated care-based environments. Experience supporting frontline, market-based, or hourly workforces. HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) preferred. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Management, Psychology, or a related field. Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR. Must have a valid driver's license An equivalent combination of education and progressive HR experience may be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: A practical, people-first partner who enjoys being in the field and close to the work. Someone who balances empathy with sound judgment and consistency. A strong communicator who can navigate sensitive situations with confidence and care. A collaborator who brings solutions, not just issues, to the table. Working Conditions/Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member must frequently use a computer for extended periods. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Specific vision abilities are required to do this job, including close vision. This position requires walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods. Manual dexterity and precision when treating injuries and performing surgeries is required. The Team Member must sometimes lift, carry, pull, and/or move objects or animals up to 40 pounds. The work environment may include working with aggressive animals that bite and/or scratch. May require flexible work hours, including nights and weekends.
