Are you a passionate HR leader with a talent for driving organizational culture and operational excellence? NorLand Limited is seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager, People & Culture to join our team. Reporting to the Vice President, People & Culture, you will lead the operational delivery of human resources and recruitment across NorLand.
NorLand Limited consists of multiple specialized businesses working together as one team towards common goals. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • 7+ years of HR generalist and recruitment experience, with at least 2 years’ experience leading a team
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or relevant field, or equivalent experience (HR Diploma + experience)
  • In-depth knowledge of BC & Alberta Employment Standards and best HR practices
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Proven track record supporting large, diverse employee groups with a focus on employee relations and recruitment
  • Experience in construction, related industries, or working with geographically dispersed teams is an asset
  • Familiarity with union environments is considered beneficial
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities; able to deliver presentations and training
  • Confident handling confidential and sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Willingness and ability to travel to NorLand worksites across the Lower Mainland, with occasional trips to Vancouver Island, the Interior, and Alberta.
  • Access to a reliable transportation and a valid BC Driver’s License is required

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Manager, People & Culture, you are the subject matter expert and escalation point for employee issues, compliance, and policy implementation. You will oversee the recruitment team, build strong relationships with General Managers, and ensure that our talent pipeline supports NorLand’s continued growth.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Employee Relations: Advise and support managers on employee relations, conduct investigations, and recommend actions. Ensure compliance with employment standards, Human Rights, WCB, and internal policies. Oversee onboarding, offboarding, and leave management programs.
  • Recruitment: Lead a team of up to three recruiters; manage recruitment programs, talent partnerships, and the applicant tracking system. Collaborate with stakeholders to assess needs and recruit for senior and specialized roles. Promote NorLand’s employer brand and ensure a best-in-class onboarding experience.
  • Absence Management: Manage leaves of absence (LOA), disability processes, and return-to-work plans, coordinating with managers and external stakeholders.
  • Workforce Experience: Enhance employee experience by developing engagement and recognition initiatives across the Employee Lifecycle. Represent NorLand at community events and act as a community ambassador.
  • Continuous Improvement: Take a lead role in departmental and cross-functional projects, bringing forward process enhancements and supporting NorLand’s values and business priorities.
