Description Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading local hunger-relief organization in the state with locations in Milwaukee and Appleton. Founded in 1982 by the Rotary Club of Milwaukee, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is a local and independent member of the Feeding America network. JOB PURPOSE: The People Experience Assistant plays a critical role as the first point of contact for visitors, volunteers, and partners at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin (FAEW). This position supports the day-to-day operations of the organization by performing a blend of administrative, customer service, human resources and financial functions. The role ensures seamless front desk operations, maintains a welcoming environment, and contributes to FAEW’s mission of ending hunger with professionalism, compassion, and efficiency. What You’ll Do Create a warm, welcoming environment for all visitors, volunteers, and staff. Manage the front desk, including greeting guests, answering phones, and directing inquiries to the right team member. Support the People & Culture team with recruiting tasks such as posting jobs, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews. Coordinate onboarding logistics, new hire orientations, and team events that foster connection and belonging. Maintain organized systems for HR files, office supplies, and IT assets to support smooth daily operations. Process and track incoming donations (monetary and food) with professionalism and accuracy. Manage mail and package distribution, ensuring efficient and timely handling. Support communication efforts, staff celebrations, and internal engagement initiatives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Answer and route phone calls to appropriate staff members in various departments. Assist with day-to-day HR functions, including screening resumes and coordinating interviews. Support onboarding for new hires, preparing materials, and scheduling orientation sessions. Schedule HR-related meetings, interviews, and events. Assist in the preparation and distribution of policy updates, employee handbooks, and other materials. Help organize team-building activities, company meetings, and holiday events. Maintain and oversee the FAEW apparel inventory. Handle sensitive information and ensure confidentiality in all HR-related matters. Support employee surveys, collaboration initiatives, and follow-up actions as directed. Oversee the management of incoming and outgoing mail to ensure efficient distribution. Handle in-person monetary and food donations with care and professionalism. Maintain inventory and order office supplies for staff as needed. Oversee IT asset inventory tracking and office equipment allocation. Clean and maintain common areas such as the front lobby, mailroom, and kitchen. Develop and maintain an organized office filing system. Carry out a variety of special projects as assigned. High school diploma or equivalent related experience, preferred One to three years of customer service and/or HR experience. Strong organizational skills with ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail. Professional presentation and phone etiquette. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving and strong decision-making capability.
