Description

People Operations Coordinator - 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Robert Half are recruiting for a People Operations Coordinator on behalf of our client, a growing technology and engineering business.

Our client develops advanced technologies and high-performance products for demanding global markets. We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused People Operations Coordinator to join the team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, based at a city-centre office. The role can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.

The position is paying £30,000-£40,000 DOE.

The Role

This role sits at the heart of the day-to-day administration supporting the employee experience. You will ensure People processes run smoothly, records remain accurate and important actions are followed through.

You will coordinate key stages of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment administration and onboarding through to employee changes and offboarding. You will maintain People records, manage absence and right-to-work administration, coordinate recruitment activity and act as the first point of contact for straightforward queries through the HR inbox.

A key focus will be onboarding, ensuring new starters have everything they need for their first day, including completed documentation, equipment, systems access and practical arrangements.

You won't be expected to make HR policy or employee-relations decisions. Instead, you will take ownership of processes within your remit, resolve straightforward queries, proactively follow up on outstanding actions and recognise when matters need to be escalated.

You don't need a formal HR background. You may already work in People Operations or HR administration, or you could be an experienced administrator or coordinator looking to apply your skills in a People environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day People administration, ensuring employee records, absence information, right-to-work documentation and employee changes are accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate recruitment administration, including final-stage interviews, candidate records and completion of required recruitment steps.
  • Manage onboarding administration, ensuring contracts, documentation and right-to-work checks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure new starters have everything required for day one.
  • Manage offboarding administration, including documentation, employee records, equipment returns and systems access.
  • Manage the HR inbox, resolving straightforward factual and process queries and escalating matters requiring HR judgement.
  • Proactively follow up with employees, hiring managers and other teams to keep processes moving and prevent delays.
  • Identify practical opportunities to improve People processes and help implement agreed changes.
  • For full-time appointments, provide occasional practical office administration support.

About You

You will be:

  • Highly organised and detail-focused, with strong standards for accuracy and completeness.
  • Accountable and proactive, taking ownership of work through to completion.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities, processes and deadlines.
  • A clear and professional communicator, confident working with employees, candidates and hiring managers.
  • Practical and solutions-focused, with good judgement around when to resolve or escalate issues.
  • Trustworthy and discreet when handling confidential information.
  • Digitally capable and comfortable learning new systems and workflows.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in People Operations, HR administration or a similar role.
  • Experience coordinating recruitment or onboarding.
  • Familiarity with right-to-work or employee compliance administration.
  • Experience using Airtable or similar workflow/database tools.
  • Experience in a technology, engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience improving administrative processes.
