We are seeking a mission-driven and experienced People Operations Specialist to support our growing team and help foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.

POSITION SUMMARY

The People Operations Specialist will play a key role in managing and improving HR operations, supporting staff at all levels, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and employment laws. This part-time role is ideal for a seasoned HR professional who is passionate about nonprofit work and eager to contribute to a collaborative and people-focused workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • At least 2 years of experience with benefits administration.
  • Demonstrated success in talent acquisition and recruitment.
  • Experience with workforce planning and succession strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR policies, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build relationships across departments.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficient with HRIS systems and data entry; high attention to detail.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards.
  • Ability to work onsite during scheduled hours.
Responsibilities
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture through employee relations and engagement efforts.
  • Oversee HR administration, ensuring policies and practices align with organizational goals and legal requirements.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including enrollment and employee communications.
  • Coordinate onboarding processes for new hires to ensure a welcoming and effective integration.
  • Lead talent acquisition efforts, including recruitment strategies, job postings, and candidate screening.
  • Implement and support succession planning and professional development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to support workforce planning and team development.
  • Provide guidance to directors and staff on HR policies, compliance, and best practices.
  • Manage the exit and termination process with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Lead employee engagement programs, events, and recognition activities.
  • Attend Safety Council Meetings as needed.
  • Manage and maintain HRIS system – BambooHR.
  • Track and analyze HR metrics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
