Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee HR processes including onboarding, offboarding, leaves, benefits, drafting letters and documentation, and ensure responses to HR inquiries (HR Inbox)
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation in BC and Quebec to ensure compliance.
  • Work closely with finance and payroll to ensure accurate reporting and to provide requested data for auditing purposes.
  • Act as the lead for all HRIS-related matters including ensuring proper access levels, employee file records, and conducting monthly/quarterly audits.
  • Partner with the Head of People & Culture on addressing employee relations issues, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance management
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining our employee handbook of studio policies and processes
  • Work closely with the Recruitment team to ensure a smooth employee experience as a unified People & Culture department and to involve and consult with other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Partner with Production and Department Heads to anticipate and understand project needs and resolve people-related issues
  • Track and execute accurately employee transfers and/or extensions in a timely manner as part of People & Culture’s larger retention strategy.
  • Create and lead ongoing Learning & Development modules (ie. Leadership) for all employees.
  • Gather and analyze employee engagement/feedback and provide recommendations to the Director of People & Culture on a regular basis.
  • Support performance review cycles and goal-setting processes semi-annually within HRIS.
  • Provide mentorship to the rest of the People Ops team.
  • Other HR generalist related duties as required by the Director, Head of People & Culture.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of HR experience, preferably with 2+ years at the manager level
  • CPHR designation or working towards is strongly preferred
  • Experience in the animation, VFX, gaming, or entertainment industry strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law in Canada
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with professionalism, empathy, and discretion
  • Experience supporting creative or technical teams in a production environment
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid or remote setup with distributed teams
