QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.
  • Must hold a valid pharmacist’s license from the State of New Jersey.

Preferred:

  • A minimum of one year retail pharmacy experience is recommended,

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Day shifts, Per Diem
  • The pharmacy is open Monday-Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM, Saturday is 10 am to 3 PM
  • Willingness and flexibility to work on alternating and rotating work schedules on short notice
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for prescription workflow-including accurate data entry, handling of insurance issues, and verification
  • Must document changes or notations to original prescription when necessary
  • Has good working knowledge and abides by insurance rules and regulations ex: Medicare D, Medicaid, commercial
  • Provide quality customer service and answering phones in a timely manner
  • Provides drug information and consults with physicians, nurses, other healthcare providers and patients about medication therapy
  • Receives prescription request from multiple sources new and refill and process them accordingly and accurately
  • Ability to use different medication resources to evaluate medication issues such as drug interactions, allergies, etc,
  • Works with attention to detail with the realization that errors may have serious consequences
  • Proficient in use of Pharmacy and other departmental software as required for the position
  • Adheres to all necessary policies and procedures regarding CII to CV inventory control
  • Retrieves customer prescription for pick-up and adheres to policy and procedures to verify correct patient
  • May be asked to operates cash register POS to accept payment and signatures from customers
  • Downtime tasks such as prescription filing and checking for outdates are necessary
  • Ability to multi-task and work in different locations is required
  • Assist and supervises pharmacy technicians when necessary, plus ability to delegate tasks to technicians during downtime
  • Follows USP 800 medication regulations when required
  • Wholesaler ordering when necessary with accuracy and efficiency, resolves discrepancies
  • Signs and awareness of paperwork and records as defined by company and federal and state regulations
  • Assist the department with pharmacy inventory management; inventory returns; outdated medications
  • Shows inventory awareness, ensures that order quantities are optimal based on usage and shelf levels
  • Willingness and flexibility to work alternating and rotating work schedules on short notice
  • Has knowledge of and uses the reporting mechanisms for variances and adverse drug events
  • Ensures that pharmacy records the temperatures of the refrigerator and ambient room as required by NJ Board of Pharmacy
