Convergence Health is seeking a strong clinician and motivated Per Diem Pre-Anesthesia Testing (PAT) RN to provide safe, efficient, and effective patient focused care across multi-specialty for patients from infancy to geriatrics. As the PAT RN, you will assess patients before surgery by reviewing their medical history, conducting physical exams, ordering pre-op tests, and educating them on the procedures. You will collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia teams to identify potential risks, develop individualized care plans, and ensure the patient is prepared physically and emotionally for their surgery. A key role is to identify potential barriers to care and ensure patient safety through risk assessments. The ideal candidate will cultivate strong relationships with Providers, and patients, while delivering exceptional, quality, patient-centric care as well as being an integral part of our team. Key responsibilities: Patient Assessment: Conduct a comprehensive pre-operative assessment via phone and in-person, review medical histories as well as severity of comorbidities, and perform physical exams to identify potential risks and contraindications for anesthesia and surgery. This includes screening for OSA, assessing airway anatomy and risk for difficult ventilation in patients with high BMI. Medication Management: Thorough review of all medications, including weight loss aids In collaboration with physicians, ensure patients are appropriate for outpatient ambulatory procedures by adhering to established Facility BMI guidelines and comorbidity assessments. Testing and Diagnostics: Order and interpret necessary preoperative diagnostic tests, such as lab work and EKGs. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on surgical procedures, anesthesia, and post-operative care. Care Plan Development: Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other staff to develop individualized care plans and coordinate patient care. Risk Management: Perform safety risk assessments for issues like falls, pressure ulcers, and skin breakdown. Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation. Collaboration: Work closely with the surgical and anesthesia teams and other staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to pre-operative care. Requirements Education: A graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Associate's, Diploma, or BSN). Licensure: An active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nevada or ability to obtain prior to employment Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may also be necessary. Skills: Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills are essential. Experience with pre- and post-surgical patient care is preferred. Other: A strong understanding of pre-anesthesia nursing care in an ambulatory setting, the ability to manage emergency situations, and organizational and multitasking skills are often required.
