Description This role exists to support and implement the Mission of Magnificat High School. Reports to: Director of Performing Arts Length of Service: Seasonal | Part Time | Temporary Position Position Summary: This temporary role exists to support and implement the Mission of Magnificat High School by contributing to student growth and development through Performing Arts Department programming. This position involves preparing, rehearsing, and conducting the orchestra, accompanying rehearsals as needed and collaborating with the Director of Performing Arts, Artistic Director and production team to ensure a high- quality performance. Mission: ? Acts in a manner consistent with the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church, the Mission and Heritage of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, and the Mission, Values, and beliefs of Magnificat High School. ? Works to build a respectful, inclusive, and equitable, community with students, colleagues, parents, and others where all students feel respected, valued, and can thrive. ? Respects the racial, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic diversity of all students, faculty and staff. ? Utilizes a student-centered approach in collaboration with all community members to develop and support programming in alignment with the school’s Mission, Values, and goals. ? Employs a restorative approach in developing and maintaining relationships with students, families, and staff. Major Responsibilities: ? Accompany auditions and rehearsals as requested by the Performing Arts Director, Music Director or Choreographer. ? Prepare musical scores for use by the pit orchestra. ? Recruit and organize adult/professional musicians for the pit orchestra. ? Rehearse the pit orchestra in preparation for performances. ? Conduct the pit orchestra and serve as the primary keyboard player for rehearsals and all performances, including “tech week(s)”. ? Attend pre-production meetings and design team discussions as needed. ? Work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students to support a successful production. ? Uphold Magnificat’s Mission, philosophy and policies. Other Responsibilities ? Completes other duties as assigned. Position Qualifications: ? Prior experience conducting musical theater productions, preferably in a scholastic or community setting. ? Ability to recruit, organize and lead musicians. ? Strong organizational and communication skills. Work Environment: ? Requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends. ? Work performed primarily in rehearsal and theater/stage settings. ? Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders and moving between performance spaces; extended periods of standing or sitting; occasional bending, reaching. ? Exposure to stage lighting, sound equipment, theatrical effects. ? Occasional work in dim or darkened lighting conditions. ? Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50lbs. ? Manual dexterity for handling instruments, equipment or technology controls. ? Requires ability to maintain professionalism in a fast paced setting with multiple deadlines and simultaneous activities. Required clearances for employment: ? BCI/FBI Background Clearance ?
