SUPERVISOR: Principal or Designee  SUMMARY: A performing arts teacher will assess and provide instruction, facilitation and guidance to ensure student success and promote an exemplary education program fostering achievement for all students. Develops and promotes good relations among the school community: parents, staff, administration, and other community members. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only. 1.Ability and desire to work with elementary students. 2. Demonstrates ability to teach the full spectrum of music, arts, movement and performance education. 3. Demonstrates understanding of performing arts (music & arts curriculum and programs). 4. Strong knowledge of content area, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related to elementary level learners. 5. Organize and lead various types of student performances throughout the year. 5. Demonstrated ability to make a positive impact on student achievement and to differentiate instruction to support the needs of diverse learners. 6. Demonstrated problem-solving skills evidenced through collaborative work with students, teachers, parents and administrators. 7. Strong communication, organization, and human relations skills. 8. Willing to use PowerSchool for online attendance, online grade book, online posting of assignments, and parental access to attendance and grades. 9. Ability and desire to collaborate with parent volunteers, classroom teachers and other specialists in producing programs. 10. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Proficiency in using technology. * Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire. REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired. * Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license * CDE Drama Theater Arts (grades K-12) endorsement PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience working with elementary students through performing arts * Basic understanding of music standards and willingness to incorporate them into instruction * Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. * Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
