QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Primary Education.
  • Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • Experience in teaching Performing Arts at the primary school level is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with students, nurturing their individual talents and supporting their social, emotional, and creative growth.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students to explore and express themselves creatively.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate Performing Arts program for primary-aged students, with a focus on music, drama, and expressive movement.
  • Deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that foster creativity, imagination, confidence, and collaboration through performance-based learning.
  • Support students in developing performance skills and confidence, encouraging participation in class, assemblies, and school events where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the specialist team and classroom teachers to support integrated learning opportunities and contribute to the wider school curriculum.
  • Plan and coordinate performances, showcases or celebrations of student learning that reflect the school’s values and community identity.
  • Uphold and promote the Catholic identity, values, and ethos of the school in all teaching and professional practices.
  • Participate in professional learning aligned with the MACS Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement, and actively contribute to school improvement initiatives.
  • Play an active role in the establishment of a new school culture, fostering community, creativity, and a sense of belonging as a foundation staff member.
