The Perfumer is responsible for creating, developing, and modifying fragrance compounds that meet customer briefs, regulatory requirements, and commercial objectives. This role combines creativity, technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative, market-relevant fragrance solutions while supporting Berjé’s commitment to exceeding customer expectations. The position requires strong communication skills, comfort with client-facing presentations, and collaboration across all departments. The Perfumer may also support activities related to international shipments of essential oils and aroma chemicals to customers within the flavor and fragrance industry. Qualifications Essential Duties and Responsibilities Fragrance Development Create original fragrance formulations in response to customer briefs, internal initiatives, and market opportunities Modify and improve existing formulas to address performance, cost, regulatory, or customer feedback requirements Evaluate fragrances throughout development to ensure olfactive quality, stability, and application performance Select appropriate raw materials in alignment with performance, availability, and cost targets Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Sales and Marketing to translate customer needs into fragrance concepts Support customer evaluations, fragrance submissions, and presentations as needed Collaborate with Regulatory and Quality teams to ensure compliance with IFRA, regional, and customer-specific requirements Work with Operations and Supply Chain to support scale-up and production consistency Compliance, Documentation & Systems Ensure all fragrance formulations comply with IFRA standards and applicable global regulations Maintain accurate and complete formulation records in internal systems Support reformulation efforts driven by regulatory changes or raw material availability Market & Industry Awareness Stay informed on fragrance trends, consumer preferences, and new raw materials Conduct competitive benchmarking and fragrance analysis Contribute to internal creative initiatives and fragrance libraries Continuous Improvement Support cost optimization initiatives without compromising fragrance quality Assist in troubleshooting fragrance performance or production issues including reviewing formula components Participate in internal projects related to innovation, efficiency, or process improvement including but not limited to technology implementations and standardizations. In addition to understanding company KPI’s all employees are expected to meet all determined KPI’s and Departmental goals Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field (preferred) Formal perfumery training or equivalent professional experience Minimum 5 years of experience in fragrance creation within a Flavor & Fragrance company Demonstrated olfactory acuity and fragrance evaluation skills Strong knowledge of fragrance raw materials and formulation techniques Strong working knowledge of working with, and analyzing GC, Mass Spec , SPME techniques Working knowledge of IFRA standards and fragrance regulatory requirements Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments Proficiency with appropriate systems (LIMS, ERP, etc.) Skills and/or Physical Requirements: Demonstrated olfactory acuity and fragrance evaluation skills Strong knowledge of fragrance raw materials and formulation techniques Working knowledge of IFRA standards and fragrance regulatory requirements Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments Proficiency with technology including LIMS systems, ERP Systems, Regulatory etc. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills with global partners and internal stakeholders Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills with clear communication both in verbal and written form.
