QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • The perfusionist must be a graduate from a council on allied health education administration approved perfusion training program and be certified or certification eligible by the American board of cardiovascular perfusion, bring examined within two years of eligibility.
  • If non-certified, the perfusionist must have completed 75 primary cardiac perfusions per year for the last two consecutive years.
  • The perfusionist must successfully completed all orientation programs.
  • The perfusionist must hold a valid license for the practice of perfusion in the state of new jersey.

Responsibilities
  • As circulating perfusionist, checks all rooms and is readily available to assist the promary perfusionist.
  • Assesses pertinent lab data in a timely manner
  • Complteres and files all perfusionist relatied paper work with entry of clinical information in CAOS information system.
  • Conducts cardiopulmonary bypass safely in conjunction with surgeon’s requirements
  • Effectively communicates with the phsicians concerning patient status
  • Is ready to institute bypass prior to patient induction.
  • Maintains a clear, organized work eviorment, cleaning all equipment after each use
  • Maintains adequate stock levels and replenishes all medications and disposeables as needed.
  • Performs all necessary quality controls and calibrations
  • Prepares autotransusion circuit completely with all needed fluids
  • Remains committed to assigned procedure and is redily available to institute or re-institute CPB
  • Reviews patients’s chart prior to procedure and records pertinent information on perfusion chart
  • Takes appropriate action to patient’s medical status on CPB utilitzing lab data to make appropriate changes.
